"Man at the Bazar" explores the closed space of Bazar Vest, one of Scandinavia’s largest ethnic markets and illustrates how people (mainly refugees from the Middle East and Africa) exchange knowledge, share everyday issues and produce narratives. I conducted ethnographic research including participatory observation, depth interviews, photography and filming while spending a long time with an Ethiopian old man who came to Denmark as a refugee in 1994.
『バザールの男 (原題：Man at the Bazar)』は、デンマーク・オーフス郊外に位置する北欧最大規模のバザールにおいて、ひとりの戦争難民が同じ境遇の友人たちとどのように知識を共有し、空間に親しみを見出し、家庭でも職場でもない第三のコミュニティとしての価値を見出しているかを追った民族誌映像。1994年にエチオピアから戦争難民としてデンマークにやってきた男性に焦点を当て、参与観察やインタビュー、映像・写真撮影等の映像人類学的手法を通して共に時間を過ごし、彼の語りや些細な仕草を追ったドキュメンタリー。
